Pipe Clip with Locking Strap

The design is modular: you have the U-clip body and a matching Spannbügel (tensioning/locking strap) that secures the pipe.

  1. Material Specifications
  • Material: Polypropylene (PP), high-impact resistant.
  • Color: Dust Grey (RAL 7037).
  • Operating Temp: 0°C to +90°C (Industrial grade).
  • UV Resistance: High; however, for permanent outdoor use, AnZ datasheets recommend UV-stabilized versions or shielding to prevent brittleness over decades.
  1. Technical Dimensions (Standard Type)

clips use a single-bolt mounting system for sizes up to d90 and a triple-bolt base for sizes d110 and above.

Key Design Features

  • Retaining Strip: Unlike simple snap-clips, the locking strap is a semi-rigid piece that clicks into deep notches on the outer arms of the clip. This creates a closed-loop support.
  • Axial Movement: The internal diameter is precisely calibrated to support the pipe without “pinching,” allowing the pipe to expand and contract axially due to thermal changes (sliding support).
  • No “Notch Effect”: The smooth internal radius ensures no stress concentration on the PP pipe wall, which is critical for long-term pressure ratings.
  1. Installation Guidelines
  • Mounting: Suitable for wall, floor, or ceiling mounting.
  • Vertical Lines: The locking strap is mandatory for vertical installations to prevent the pipe from slipping out of the U-channel under gravity or hydraulic surge.
  • Ceiling Mounting: When mounting overhead, the load capacity of the clip is reduced by approximately 50%. Always ensure the locking strap is fully engaged (you should hear a distinct “click”).
  1. Chemical Resistance

Because they are made of PP, clips are virtually immune to:

  • Salts and Aqueous solutions.
  • Most inorganic acids (Hydrochloric, Phosphoric).
  • Alkalis (Sodium Hydroxide).
  • Note: Avoid use with strong oxidizing agents (Nitric Acid) or halogens.

Technical features:

  • Corrosion resistant
  • Integrated distance plate (Type B)
  • Easy assembling
  • Long lifetime

Pipe clip spacing

The recommended pipe clip spacing is based on DVS 2210-1 at a density of the fluid of 1 g/cm3.

The following parameters have an influence on the pipe clip spacing:

  • pipe material
  • pipe diameter
  • pipe wall thickness
  • average pipe wall temperature
  • density of fluid

Due to DVS 2210-1 the following conversion factors can be used to determine the pipe clip

spacing if the fluid has another density than 1 g/cm3:

PP Pipe Clip: Technical Specifications

These clips are manufactured from High Impact Copolymer Polypropylene (PP), specifically designed for industrial chemical resistance and UV stability.

  1. Classification by Type
  • Type A: Standard open U-clip for small diameters (d10 – d32).
  • Type B (The “Locking” Choice): Features an integrated distance plate and a reinforced structure that accommodates a safety locking strap (d16 – d63).
  • Type C & D: Heavy-duty series for larger pipes (d25 – d400), featuring pre-molded holes for securing the pipe with a bolt or strap.
  1. Key Performance Features
  • Chemical Resistance: Suitable for aggressive media (acids/bases) in accordance with PP-H material properties.
  • Temperature Rating: Optimized for use up to 80°C & 176°F
  • Self-Locking Design: Anz industrial clips are marketed as “self-locking” because the U-arms are engineered with a specific tension that “snaps” the pipe into place, while the safety strap provides secondary mechanical retention.
  • Corrosion-Free: 100% plastic construction (unless stainless steel mounting bolts are added by the user).

  1. Support Spacing for PP Pipes at 20°C

Based on our technical handbook, when using these clips with PP-H pipes, follow these maximum intervals to prevent sagging:

  • d20: 850 mm
  • d32: 1050 mm
  • d63: 1450 mm
  • d110: 1900 mm

Note: If the fluid density is higher than 1.0 g/cm3 (e.g., concentrated chemicals), reduce the spacing by the density factor (e.g., divide by 1.2 for a 1.2 SG fluid).

  1. Application Note: “Safety Straps”

While the clip body is the primary component, the safety strap (often a UV-stabilized Velcro or a PP notched strap) is frequently listed as an accessory for the Type B and C clips to provide the final “lock” required for vertical lines or ceiling mounts.

The U-type lock clip is a type of locking mechanism used in various applications, including industrial settings. It is designed to be durable and resistant to chemicals, making it suitable for use in harsh environments. For more detailed specifications and applications, you can refer to the HDPE specification manual, which includes information on their polyethylene drainage products. Additionally, you can find U-type lock clips manufactured by suppliers like Spring India, which offer high-quality options for industrial applications.

Pipe Clip: Technical Data

These clips are typically used with PPH (equivalent) or PVC systems.

  1. Material & Performance
  • Body Material: High-grade Polypropylene (PP-H).
  • Color: Usually Black (UV stabilized).
  • Thermal Range: (standard for industrial PP).
  • Design: Features a “snap-on” safety strap that bridges the top of the U-opening.

2.Key Installation Features

  • Safety Strap: The locking strap is often sold as part of the assembly or as a separate accessory. It prevents the pipe from “jumping” out of the bracket due to water hammer or thermal expansion.
  • Centring Guides: The internal radius of the U-clip is precision-molded to match the pipe OD, ensuring that the pipe remains on the centreline of the system (essential for alignment).
  • Stackability: Many AnZ clips feature a base design that allows them to be mounted on distancing spacers (type DS) to increase the clearance between the pipe and the wall.
  1. Support Spacing (PP-H)

When using these clips with PP-H piping at 20°C, the recommended maximum support intervals are:

  • d20: 800 mm
  • d32: 1000 mm
  • d63: 1400 mm

(Note: Spacing must be reduced by approximately 30% if operating at 60°C).

  1. Difference
  • Locking Mechanism: The typically “clicks” into a small external lug on the outside of the clip arm, whereas some versions use a slide-through pin or a top-down snap.

Model:

  • Material: Clip and safety clip PP black, UV resistant, bolts galvanized
  • d16 – d63: Height designed
  • Minimum order quantity: standard packaging’s SP

The U-type lock clip is designed for securing pipes and is compatible with various materials, including PVC-U. Here are some key points:

Material Compatibility: U-type lock clips are suitable for securing pipes made from PVC-U and other thermoplastics.

Durability: These clips are known for their resistance to chemicals and are manufactured using spring steel, making them durable and safe for industrial applications.

Applications: They are commonly used in various piping systems, including those for chemical and water conveying.

For more detailed specifications, you may refer to the manufacturer’s datasheets or product documentation.

Pipe Clip:

the standard “U-style” clip that features an optional or integrated locking strap (safety clip) to prevent the pipe from popping out due to vibration or thermal expansion.

  1. Material Specifications
  • Clip Body: Polypropylene (PP), usually black and UV-stabilized for outdoor and industrial environments.
  • Safety Clip (Locking Strap): Polypropylene (PP), black.
  • Chemical Resistance: High resistance to most acids, alkalis, and solvents (standard PP-H properties).
  1. Locking Mechanism

The “locking” feature is achieved through a safety clip (safety bar) that snaps across the top of the U-opening.

  • Tool-free installation: The pipe is pushed into the U-clip, and the safety strap is clicked into the notched arms.
  • Vibration Security: Once the safety clip is engaged, the pipe cannot be removed without manually unlatching the strap, making it ideal for vertical runs or high-flow turbulence.
